Middle-order batsmen Beckham Wheeler-Greenall scored a brilliant 75 to defy Bangladesh bowlers as New Zealnd scored a decent 211 for 8 in the second semifinal of ICC Under-19 World Cup at Potchefstroom on Thursday.

Bangladesh bowlers started the day brightly, picking up the first wicket in the second over and getting the top three batsmen out soon after the batting side crossed fifty. The fourth wicket was gone on 74, in the 26th over.

Beckham and Nicholas Lidstone now added 67 in the fifth wicket to repair some damage. Although Lidstone missed his fifty by six runs when Shoriful Islam trapped him leg before, Beckham did seal his half century soon.

He was unbeaten on 75 at the end of the innings, made in 85 balls courtesy of five fours and two sixes. Lidstone hit just two fours in his 74-ball innings.

Shoriful was key for Bangladesh, bagging three wickets, while Shamim Hossain and Hasan Murad claimed two each. - Collected from "Prothom Alo"
